Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana (PM-KMY)

Narendra Modi, the prime minister, introduced the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, the Department of Agriculture, the Government of India, and the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) work together to manage this Central Sector Scheme.

For the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana, which offers all small and marginal farmers (who own cultivable land up to 2 hectares) an assured monthly pension of Rs. 3000/- beyond the age of 60, LIC is the Pension Fund Manager. To protect the lives of India’s small and marginal farmers, this program was launched.

Details

A pension plan with contributions offered to individual farmers by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. at the age of 60, offers a secured monthly pension of Rs. 3000 to all small and marginal farmers.

A government program known as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana was created to provide social security and elderly protection for Small and Marginal Farmers.

Benefits

  • After turning 60, a minimum guaranteed pension of Rs. 3000 per month is available.
  • Convertible to family pension wherein spouse shall be entitled to receive 50% of the amount.
  • If the applicant dies before the age of 60, the Spouse will be entitled to continue the scheme and shall be entitled to receive 50% of the amount.
  • The applicant may submit a claim for the pension amount after he or she turns 60. A set pension amount is deposited into the appropriate person’s pension account each month.
  • In case an eligible beneficiary exits this Scheme within a period of less than ten years from the date of joining the Scheme, then the share of contribution by him only will be returned to him with savings bank rate of interest payable thereon.
  • If an eligible beneficiary exits after completion of a period of ten years or more from the date of joining the Scheme but before his age of sixty years, then just his portion of the contribution will be refunded to him, together with either the interest at the savings bank interest rate on it or the cumulative interest as actually earned by the Pension Fund, depending on which is higher.
  • If an eligible beneficiary made regular contributions and passed away for any reason, his spouse would be eligible to either exit the plan by receiving the share of the beneficiary’s contributions that were made, along with any accumulated interest, at the higher of the interest rate offered by a savings institution or the Pension Fund, whichever is higher.
  • The corpus must be returned to the fund if the recipient and his or her spouse pass away.

Note

Until they turn 60, candidates between the ages of 18 and 40 will need to pay monthly contributions totalling between Rs. 55 and Rs. 200.

Exclusions

Large farmers: those who, according to the State/UT’s land records, possess cultivable land that is more than 2 hectares.

They are not eligible for the program if they have already applied for the following plan.

  • NPS (National Pension Scheme)
  • ESIC (Employees’ State Insurance Corporation)
  • EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation)

Application Process Online – Via CSCs

The following conditions must be met in order to enroll :

  1. Aadhaar Card
  2. Savings Bank Account Number and IFSC Code (Use of a bank statement copy, chequebook, or passbook as proof of a bank account)
  • The initial contribution amount in cash will be made to the Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE).
  • For authentication, the VLE will enter the Aadhaar number, beneficiary’s name, and birthdate as they appear on the Aadhaar card.
  • By entering information such as bank account information, a mobile number, an email address, spouse (if any), and nominee information, the VLE will finish the online registration process.
  • The system will auto-calculate monthly contributions payable according to the age of the Beneficiary.
  • The beneficiary will pay the 1st subscription amount in cash to the VLE.
  • The enrollment cap is Printed and signed by the beneficiary, and the auto-debit mandate form will be sent to the bank. VLE will scan the document and upload it to the database.
  • A unique Kisan Pension Account Number (KPAN) will be generated and a Kisan Card will be printed.

Application Process Online

To enroll, the following prerequisites must be satisfied:

  1. Aadhaar Card
  2. Savings Bank Account Number and IFSC Code (Use of a bank statement copy, chequebook, or passbook as proof of a bank account)
  • The applicant will key in the Aadhaar number, Name of beneficiary and Date of birth as printed on the Aadhaar card for authentication.
  • The applicant will complete the online registration by filling up the details like Bank Account details, Mobile Number, Email Address, Spouse (if any) and Nominee details will be captured.
  • KPAN ID Generated and Mandate form download
  • Upload the mandate form after signature and submit
  • Download the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan card after submit
