Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand celebrates his century with teammate Devon Conway during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup India 2023 between England and New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium on October 05, 2023, in Ahmedabad, India.
Conway and Ravindra collaborated to assemble an unbroken 273-run stand off 211 deliveries, overcoming the obstacles offered by both pace and spin with elegance and ease. Even though the game was being billed as a rematch of the 2019 finals, where England narrowly defeated New Zealand, the Men in Black proved they won’t be taken lightly this World Cup, especially with the Three Lions coming in as the defending champions and one of the favourites to win it all.
New Zealand had participated in the 2019 World Cup final, which England had won. After four years, the Kiwi squad has exacted interest and retaliation against England in this circumstance. In the 2019 final, England was determined the victor by applying the boundary count rule after the match and subsequent superover ended in a draw.
However, the first World Cup encounter between these two sides was played four years later. Due to Kane Williamson’s absence, wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Latham assumed control of the situation. Latham chose to bowl first in the game after winning the toss.
